Having a wedding in November is a hit a miss when it comes to the weather. And Jenn and Nick had some help from above shining down on this beautiful couple.

Large wedding parties are always fun, unique and most often challenging. But I love that about weddings in general. Getting to meet new people and seeing them have a good time and to be a part of an amazing memory for two people.

2018 Year in Review

2018 has been a different year professionally for me. My weddings slowed down a bit but my commercial work increased, which you can view here (soon). On the personal side of things a lot of growth has come with much more on the horizon. First year in many I didn’t get a chance to head east to my beloved Cape Breton; you were dearly missed!

Got to shoot some fabulous engagements of an amazing couple, Natasha and Nishant, back in my (kinda) hometown of Ottawa on THE hottest day of the year! And I finished off my wedding calendar with a destination to Mexico with two beautiful souls Amanda and Adrian.

This has been a very gloomy, cold and wet spring thus far. But thankfully on the day of Sara and Jordan’s wedding it was simply beautiful. The sun was out with a little cool breeze blowing form Lake St. Clair; everyone who attended their outdoor ceremony couldn’t be happier for this.

The original plan was to have the outdoor ceremony at the Canadian Club Heritage Brand Centre (Hiram Walker’s) in Walkerville but due to the parent company selling off the building it was closed for events as of December 31st 2017. As sad as that news was the new location at Beachgrove Golf and Country Club was the next best location.

2017!!

It has been a one of the best years for me professionally. I want to again thank and congratulate all my clients this year for trusting in me, my vision and mostly my creativity.

I absolutely love photographing a wedding. All the challenges it brings, both personally and professionally. The best is the artistic freedom that my clients give me! THANK YOU!  To all that have enjoyed and grown to love my style over the years – THANK YOU!

“It was Christmas morning and I was so nervous I couldn’t sleep. I got out of bed around 6 am and had my morning coffee. I knew Melissa was always excited for Christmas morning and would wake up early. So I sat drinking my coffee mustering up the courage to go upstairs. Finally I knew it was time when the sun started to come up. I ran upstairs and woke Melissa by saying that Santa had come. I put her gift in front of her and had her open it. Once she got down to the small ring box I took it from her and got down on one knee to pop the question. She was still wiping the sleep out of her eyes and at first thought I was joking. Once she realized what was happening she said yes!! She jumped out of bed and started freaking out, who to tell first and that she had to get ready. It was our best Christmas thus far.”

Its a new day, a new year; 2016.

2015 was a year to remember. My daughter Charleigh was in the 2 year of her life, enjoying learning, laughing and waving at everyone from cars passing by to the airplanes in the sky. My boy Quinn turned 11 and is the typical boy of that age, loving gaming, hockey, YouTube and his baby sister.

Well enough of the chit chat, lets get down to why you are on my blog – to see some of my favourite wedding (and some engagement) images from 2015.

Jenn and Steve’s wedding day was filled with smiles and laughter. A very joyous occasion as any wedding would be filled with close friends and family. I’ve had the distinct honour to have worked for Steven’s dad, Reggie at his Tecumseh based photo studio; St. Louis Studio many moons ago. So I was even more honored when Steven and Jenn liked my work enough to have me photograph their wedding.

Here are some favourites of mine from their joyous day. I hope these and all the other photos will bring them the memories of how fun this day was from start to finish. I mention this because one of Steven’s Aunts pass away the next day. I learn this from Steven asking if I had taken any photos of her at anytime throughout the day.

My heart sunk for him, Jenn and their entire family. Going through my photos I noticed I didn’t get anything of her that day but I had photography her family months back for a family portrait session  and sent them one.

Photography is a very powerful and wonderful thing. The feelings, the memories, the emotion that a single picture can convey. This is why I love what I get to do for a living and why I will continue to do it for as long as I can.

For Jenn and Steven, looking back on your wedding, that feeling, that emotion; will be joyous, love filled. I know in time those feelings will outshine that sadness of that following day.

June was a fab month for weather this year. A glorious day saw Selena and Chad tie the knot.

This day was a very inspiring day for me…I had the pleasure to meet one of Chad’s friends – Jake Janisse – who is attended THE best school for the arts in the world – Brooks Institute in California. Jake is studying BFA film there and was using the same DSLR as me; Canon 5D markII. His enthusiasm combined with his laid-back attitude helped me view things differently this day. We each learned from each other and in turn made a friend. I tried a few new techniques and some old faithful and as the day progressed had a few good laughs as well!
