2018 Year in Review

2018 has been a different year professionally for me. My weddings slowed down a bit but my commercial work increased, which you can view here (soon). On the personal side of things a lot of growth has come with much more on the horizon. First year in many I didn’t get a chance to head east to my beloved Cape Breton; you were dearly missed!

Got to shoot some fabulous engagements of an amazing couple, Natasha and Nishant, back in my (kinda) hometown of Ottawa on THE hottest day of the year! And I finished off my wedding calendar with a destination to Mexico with two beautiful souls Amanda and Adrian.

This is how Chantel describes how she was proposed to by Matthew…

“We got engaged in Iceland. He brought the ring without my knowledge and held it on him everywhere we went. He wasn’t sure when he was going to do it but he knew he had to wait for the perfect moment. We had just went snorkeling and deciding to take a hike to the nearest waterfall (Öxarárfoss). It was then he decided he wanted to do it. He had asked friends of ours to take a picture of us in front of this beautiful waterfall and proceeded to get down on one knee. Not knowing what was happening he took the box out of his coat pocket and was shaking like a leaf. I was so worried he was going to drop it and we would never see this ring again. But thankfully he didn’t, he got the words that wanted to say and without hesitation I said YES!”

2017!!

It has been a one of the best years for me professionally. I want to again thank and congratulate all my clients this year for trusting in me, my vision and mostly my creativity.

I love first looks; the anticipation, the excitement of it all. What I really love from shooting first looks is the true raw emotion that come from them.

Yesterday Brittany and Patrick had a first look. All the above happened and then some. Fun was had as we walked the waterfront and then to Jackson Park for the creative session before the ceremony at the Art Gallery of Windsor. It was a beautiful day, the sun shone down with a light breeze and their small intimate ceremony was perfect over looking the Detroit skyline.

Here are some of my favorites from yesterday. Congrats to you both, Brittany and Patrick. Thanks for letting me be a part of your special day.

Yvette and Derek knew each other from back in the day so they never really had a first date so she admits.

Having an intimate ceremony at the Art Galley of Windsor was the perfect location for who they hoped would join them on their special day. The day was beautiful, sun shining, little breeze. Tug boat races on the river for Freedom Fest. Couldn’t have asked for a better day. Though there were a couple funny mishaps at the ceremony which you’ll have to ask them the details of.

All was enjoyed at Spago’s where their reception went off without a hitch. Laughter, good music, better food and dancing the night away. Perfect.

I love small intimate weddings. I get to meet and know more people than at larger events. Dorina and Scott had just that – a small intimate wedding at the Art Gallery of Windsor.
With the ceremony and reception all there we didn’t need to go anywhere else. The Gallery offers some much to work with there’s no need.

The day was one of those that the weatherman had no clue what would happen, neither did any of us! Thankfully the rain held off on this Saturday, the 15th of May.
I had the pleasure to meet Anthony on a few occasions prior to them booking me and I was looking forward to photographing Melissa and his wedding. I wasn’t disappointed in the least! There was lots of fun a laughter and I think their photos show just how much in love these two really are!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to first of what I’m hoping many posts on my new blog!

This past summer has been a fantastic one with lots to show and tell! First the tell – back in May, I began my 21 week streak. In that period I busted my 5D which was replaced with the 5D Mark II, my computer went on vacation for 2 weeks so I upgraded to an iMac! Which for the record, wondering why I had waited this long!
